FAQ
A list of frequently asked questions and answers regarding the use, storage, care and benefits of switching to beeswax food wraps!
>What is a Beeswax Wrap?
Beeswax wraps are made of hand cut 100% cotton fabric, pine rosin for stickiness and jojoba oil for softness. They are an eco friendly alternative to plastic/cling wrap.
>How do they work?
Beeswax wraps use the all-natural properties of our specially curated beeswax mixture to create a flexible and reusable alternative to plastic wrap. The mixture of beeswax and pine rosin helps the wraps stick to themselves and different surfaces. The cotton fabric combined with the beeswax mixture makes the wraps breathable, keeping moisture out and your food fresher for longer.
>How long are they good for?
Beeswax wraps can be used for up to a year or possibly longer with proper use and care.
>How do I wash my wrap?
Beeswax can melt under hot temperatures, which will create separation and cracks in your wraps over time. This will affect the longevity of your wraps. When washing your wrap, make sure to wash them using COLD soapy water, a non abrasive cleaning tool such as a cloth or sponge. Lay flat to air dry.
>Where do I store my wraps?
Store your wraps in a cool, dry place such as a drawer or cupboard. Keep the wraps away from any exposure to heat as this can damage the wrap.
>Can I use my wraps to store meat/fish/poultry?
We STRONGLY advise that you DO NOT use the wraps to store meat of any kind, cooked or raw.
>Aren't beeswax wraps anti-bacterial?
Yes, but we do not recommend them for meat storage regardless.
>How do I create a seal on the wraps?
For the best seal, we recommend "scrunching" the wrap. This friction heat activates the wax to allow for an air tight seal as the wrap better sticks to itself.
